Students are required to participate in eight threaded discussions during the semester. Each discussion will be based on one of the historical podcasts. Students are required to take detailed notes when listening to the podcasts and then post their notes on Canvas. Podcast notes should include the main points that are discussed. Students should also write their opinion of each podcast in their notes.
After posting their podcast notes, students are required to participate in threaded discussions with classmates. Students can only participate in threaded replies after they have posted their notes. Students are required to reply to at least one classmate’s post to earn full credit for each discussion. Students should agree, disagree, or otherwise critique their classmates’ posts.
Students can earn up to 5 points per threaded discussion. All eight of the discussions are worth 8% (40 points) of the course grade. Students must participate in the discussions during the dates specified on Canvas. No late discussions will be allowed. Extra credit points may be added for excellent discussion posts and replies.
Threaded Discussion 2: “The Salem Witch Trials” (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06pxp2z (Links to an external site.)). Available on Canvas from February 16 until February 21 at 11:59 p.m.
Note: The podcasts are also available on YouTube. Closed captions are available for all of the podcasts.
